Q- How much will my player get to play?
A-Each team is required to clear the bench on every change of possession. Every player is either a "defense only", "offense only", or "2-way player"

Q-How much will SYFA cost to play?
A-Registration is $95. If you have more than one child playing, there is a $10/child discount.

Q- How many games are in a season?
A-10, generally. Playoff games are in addition to the 10.

Q-When/what time are games?
A-Games are scheduled on Saturdays, Wednesday nights, and a few on Sundays. Division IV will play a few Tuesday night games.

Q- When/what time/how often are practices?
A-That is up to each coach.

Q-Where are games/practices?
A-All games are at SYFA, practice locations will be announced by the coaches. If you know of a nice field where your team can practice, let your coach know. Over crowding on practice fields is always an issue.

Q-What equipment do parents need to supply?
A-Parents must supply all necessary equipment, e.i. helmet, shoulder pads, cleats, football pants w/ pads, and all accessories.

Q-How can I help?
A-All teams need assistant coaches. All teams need team moms/dads. All teams need cheerleaders. All teams need volunteers. All teams need involved parents. Your team is what you and the other families make of it.

Q-What are the ages in each division?
A- Pee-Wee 5-6
Div I 7-8
Div II 9-10
Div III 11-12
Div IV 13-14


Q-Does my child have to weigh a certain amount?
A-There are maximum weight limits for each division which may restrict the player to certain positions. No child will be forced into a higher age bracket. No child will be allowed to play down to a lower age bracket, either.

Q-What position will my child be playing?
A-That is up to your coach. Remember that every position is important. Please do not insist or expect your child to play a certain position. This only makes things harder on the coach and the whole team.

Q-How do I sign my child up?
A-Come to registration with your child, $95, birth certificate if a new player, and a good football attitude.

Q-Who will be my child's coaches?
A-Head Coaches are selected by the Board of Directors from those who apply at Registration. Assistant Coaches are most often parents of players. Every Head Coach needs assistants. Ask him if he needs help coaching. Make the time to help.

Q-How can I get a hold of the coaches/league?
A-Contact names, phone numbers, and e-mail addresses will be posted as soon as the teams and coaches are assigned.

Q-Can I watch practices?
A-YES, please. Although some coaches may allow players to be dropped off at practice, we encourage you to watch your child and his team practice. You will be able to observe the relationships he will develop with his coaches and new teammates.

Q-What offense/defense will our team be running?
A-The coach will select the offensive scheme. In divisions Pee-Wee through III, the defense is limited to a 6-2 or 6-3, with no player over the center or in his gaps.

Q-Will they have Grants this year?
A-Yes, we have a Grant committee. We will deal with Grants on a case by case basis. You will need to bring your W-2.
